What are the commonly used materials for eyeglass lenses

The lens is the soul of glasses. Many myopic patients often encounter various problems related to glasses when wearing them. Although listening to the salesperson's introduction at the optical store is not wrong, in fact, when you ask yourself to distinguish the material of lenses, you don't know where to start. Glasses made of different materials have little effect on correcting vision, but glasses with different lenses have completely different experiences in daily life.

1. Glass lenses: The main raw material for glass lenses is optical glass, which is divided into white film and red film.

Features: Advantages: High surface hardness, high refractive index, strong scratch resistance, good optical performance, good light transmittance, good mechanical and chemical properties. Disadvantages: Heavy weight, fragile mirror surface, seriously affecting wearing comfort.

2. PC lens: PC lens, also known as space movie, is an environmentally friendly engineering plastic and currently the lightest lens material.

Features: Advantages: PC lenses have strong strength, are not easy to break, can effectively prevent lens breakage during intense exercise, are lightweight, and are UV resistant. Disadvantages: The process is complex, the decentralized control is not ideal, and the price is high.

3. Nylon lens: The material of nylon lens is transparent polyamide.

Features: Advantages: High elasticity, good optical quality, strong impact resistance. Disadvantages: Poor wear resistance compared to glass, high production cost.

4. Lens made of crystalline material: Natural material, mainly composed of silicon dioxide, generally colorless or brown, rare and expensive.

Features: Advantages: Not easily damaged, not prone to fogging, low heat absorption, not easily deformed. Disadvantages: It does not have UV protection function and may contain impurities, leading to visual ghosting.
